Pacific Life Re has promoted Tyson Johnston (pictured), head of client solutions for Australia, to general manager for Australia.

In his new role, Johnston will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Australian office, whilst aligning all activities to the goals and objectives of the business, reporting to Andrew Gill, managing director for Asia and Australia. He will also join the company’s divisional senior leadership team, with the board responsibility for Pacific Life Re Australia.

An actuary with experience working in consulting and distribution roles, Johnston joined Pacific Life Re in March 2017 and has held senior roles within the client solutions team, where he has been instrumental in designing and executing Australia’s business strategy.

“Tyson Johnston has been a pivotal member of the Pacific Life Re team and has proven his ability and strong leadership skills as he has risen to new challenges,” Gill said. “We carried out an extensive recruitment process for this role and I am confident that Tyson, equipped with his drive and knowledge of the business, is best placed to continue to move the company forward and build a successful future for Australia.”
