Real estate practice recruits new leader

A real estate and construction specialist has recruited a new national manager as it looks to drive growth in Australia.

Lockton’s Real Estate and Construction team (REAC) has bolstered its managerial lines in Australia with the appointment of Stephen Cooper as national manager for REAC Australia.

Cooper will be responsible for driving growth and development in Australia and across Asia-Pacific as Lockton looks to capitalise on a robust commercial and residential property sector.

Richard Owen, partner and LLP board member in London called Cooper’s appointment “an exciting development for our business,” and believes Cooper’s experience will see the company boost its existing presence in the country and region.

“Stephen has a first-class track record in the industry and deep expertise in the international real estate markets," Owen said.

“In Australia, the commercial and residential property sectors, including strata complexes, have remained robust and continue to attract international and national investment. With Stephen’s experience and detailed market knowledge, allied with our existing proven infrastructure both locally and internationally, we will be able to deliver a market-leading proposition to our clients and prospects.?

Cooper, who was the national practice leader for JLT’s real estate division specialising in the insurances of commercial property investors has years of industry experience in roles in Hong Kong and London.
