A global commercial and industrial property insurer has awarded its first Annual International Codes and Standards Advocacy Award to a retired veteran firefighter.

FM Global recognised Cassio Armani, who served as fire chief in Sao Paulo, Brazil for 36 years, for his commitment to helping save lives and property, ensuring the safety and well-being of firefighters, and advocating the importance of automatic sprinkler systems in Brazil.

“This award recognizes Col. Armani for being a strong proponent for the use of automatic fire-sprinkler systems in Brazil,” said Thomas Lawson, chairman and chief executive officer at FM Global. “We applaud Col. Armani for his commitment and important contributions to the São Paulo fire code and his work to ensure that more reliable fire protection tools are used in the state. His efforts to raise the level of technical knowledge of the fire service agencies in Brazil will certainly have a lasting impact.”
