Two organisations have been announced as finalists for the Finder Green Awards’ Green Insurer of the Year.

The Finder Green Awards was designed to help Australian consumers identify sustainable options across several industries including insurance, energy, banking, travel, shopping, superannuation, and telecommunications.

QBE and Huddle made it the finals for the Green Insurer of the Year award after they were judged on broad environmental metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage, and waste avoiding landfill.

Ben King, CSR manager at Finder, said the awards was introduced in response to consumer attitudes when making purchasing decisions.

“Our research shows 75% of Aussies believe a company’s social or environmental efforts are important, indicating they want to buy from brands that are making a conscious effort to minimise their impact on our planet,” King said. “We want to cut through the industry jargon and help consumers make informed and meaningful decisions when comparing products. Whether it’s signing up with a new superfund, choosing a hotel, or shopping online, we want to give consumers the confidence that they’re purchasing from a responsible provider.”

The winners will be announced on April 01 at the Zeta bar in Sydney with 1 Million Women’s founder and climate change activist, Natalie Isaacs, as MC for the evening.
