The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) is hosting a combined Finity seminar and underwriting expo in Auckland next month, it has been announced.

The seminar is free to brokers and will be looking at insurance market trends with statistics and insights to back them up.

The consulting firm has been hosting professional development events with UAC in Australia for many years and was keen to expand the concept to New Zealand too, given they have offices here, a spokesperson said.

Finity Consulting’s Sydney principal Susie Amos and Auckland consultant Anita Samu are presenting the seminar and will analyse premium and loss ratio trends for the major classes – property, liability and motor.

The expo will also give brokers an opportunity to talk directly to New Zealand and Australian UAC member agencies about their specialist products.

UAC chairman Heath Amber said the combined event was part of UAC’s strategy of providing professional development events and assisting Australian-based UAC members to showcase their products to local brokers.

“We also expect several Australian-based agencies to exhibit at the expo,” he said.

“Combining the two events means UAC members and their teams, and brokers, can take advantage of a professional development opportunity and visit the expo immediately after.

“Our goal is to enable underwriting agencies and brokers to connect at UAC-sponsored events,” he said.

The seminar and expo are both at Sky City on Wednesday 14 October from 1.30pm.
