Australia’s unemployed are “sexier” than insurance professionals, according to new online research.

Of 1000 men and women surveyed, ranging between 18 and 60+, none deemed insurance and the superannuation industry to be a sexy profession.

Manufacturing, transport and logistics also scored 0% across the board. Call centre and customer service did not do much better with a total of 0.3% of respondents finding it sexy.

However, 2.4% of men said the unemployed were sexy, and 1% of women thought employees in real estate and property was attractive.

As to be expected, the Australian Defence Force got 14.1% of female vote; and emergency services (10.8%), and trades and services (7.6%) also proved popular with women.

Australian men scored sports and recreating workers most highly, given them 11.4%; followed by healthcare and medical at 9.4% and hospitality and tourism at 6.7%.

Overall, sport and recreation (9.2%), defence forces at 9% and healthcare and medical at 6.9% filled the top three spots.

The poll was conducted by online dating site VictoriaMilan.
