The awards, which recognise the best risk management practices across the country, is split into three categories for property, liability and motor vehicle and Vero has announced a record list of 13 nominees.

Darren O’Connell, executive general manager commercial portfolio at Suncorp Commercial Insurance, said that the company are proud of their decade long awards program and noted the quality of each finalist.

“These finalists have all demonstrated outstanding ingenuity and resourcefulness to implement leading-edge risk management programs,” O’Connell said.

“There’s no better time than the 10th-anniversary celebrations to reiterate the importance and value of risk management, and that it requires effective collaboration between brokers, customers and insurers.

“These high-quality finalists are the perfect embodiment of this mantra, so it’s very appropriate that they share their experiences on this milestone occasion.”

In the property category, Unitywater, Murray Gouldburn, AKD Softwoods, Adelaide Brighton and Wesfarmers will square off whilst OCS, Sunshine Coast Council and O’Brien Glass make up the motor vehicle nominees.

In liability, TabCorp, Interflow, Scouts Australia NSW (Jamboree 2016), Stadiums Queensland and Amalgamated Holdings Limited are competing for the title.

The winners will be judged by a stand-out panel with Nina Abbey, from Elders, Stacey Conlin of Australian Red Cross, David Howard from Buller Ski Lifts, Louise Longley from NAB, and Dr Sharon Newman of Monash University’s Accident Research Centre choosing the winners.

The winners will receive the choice of 200,000 Qantas Aquire points or risk management consulting hours provided by Vero.
