WA broker wins inaugural NIBA Student of the Year award

The NIBA College Student of the Year has been crowned, beating worthy competitors from OAMPS and Carriers Insurance Brokers to the title.

Aon’s Perth-based broker Alexandra Fox-Slater is the inaugural NIBA College Student of the Year.

Fox-Slater, a services executive at Aon, topped the standings ahead of NSW pair Cristen Giles from Carriers Insurance Brokers and Megan Butchart of OAMPS.

The top three were chosen from a list of the 14 students who were winners or joint-winners of NIBA College’s Student of the Month Award.

Fox-Slater will receive her QBE-sponsored award at this year’s NIBA Convention on 13- 15 October in Melbourne, with sponsor QBE covering her accommodation and travel costs. She will also receive a cash prize and a place on QBE's Leadership Program.

Linda Evans, NIBA’s professional development executive, said: “We congratulate Alexandra and we’re delighted to be able to celebrate the success of our top students in a national competition for the first time. Their quality of work and professionalism is worthy of such recognition.”

Colin Fagen, CEO, QBE Australia and New Zealand, added: “QBE is extremely pleased to be able to support the professional development of students of our industry through this award. Congratulations to Alexandra on taking out the inaugural prize. We are proud to be making it possible to recognise and reward the excellent work of NIBA students.”
