Nominations are underway for the 2018 Insurance Business Awards, a new broker-focused event that will celebrate excellence in the insurance industry.

Acknowledging the diversity of businesses that make up the insurance broking industry, 25 categories have been developed to highlight the achievements of brokerages of different sizes and business models as well as to separate brokers and brokerages attached to larger international operations from their local independent counterparts. 

Here are some of them:

Brokerage of the Year
There are five categories for Brokerage of the Year based on different brokerage sizes and business models. Criteria include client retention; customer service proposition; financial results, plus staff development and retention. Each category winner then goes into the running to win the overall title of Australian Brokerage of the Year. In addition, there are also categories for Best Customer Service from an Individual Office, AR Network of the Year and Best Community Engagement Program.

Young Gun of the Year
There are three categories for Young Gun of the Year based on brokerage size, recognising the best brokers with less than three years’ experience. Criteria include demonstrated career progression and professional development, contribution to the nominee’s business, relevant financial results and overall customer service. Each category winner then goes into the running to win the overall title of Australian Young Gun of the Year.

Broker of the Year
There are five categories for Broker of the Year recognising a variety of brokerage sizes and business models including Independent (1-19 Staff), Independent (20 + Staff), International, Specialist and Authorised Representative.  When judging these categories criteria considered includes client retention, customer service proposition, lead generation, contribution to the overall business, relevant financial results and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel. Each category winner then goes into the running to win the overall title of Australian Broker of the Year.
