Ironshore expands Asian footprint

Ironshore International has opened an office in Hong Kong to build upon the company’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Melody Qian has been named general manager of Ironshore Hong Kong, to lead the initiative.
Qian will report to Chen Dai, head of Asia, Ironshore International, who is based in the company’s Singapore office, which was established in 2012. 

Qian most recently served with Liberty International Underwriters in Hong Kong, where she was Manager for Asia, overseeing commercial directors & officers and financial institutions’ products, while also being responsible for developing the business lines portfolio for North Asia. 

Ironshore Hong Kong will underwrite the company’s suite of specialty product lines, as well as provide access to syndicated, consortium capacity through its Lloyd’s Pembroke Managing Agency Ltd., based in London.
 

Suncorp selects sole provider for motor insurance claims software

Suncorp has selected software company Solera Holdings as its preferred provider of automobile insurance claims processing software and services for Suncorp Group after an extensive review.
As part of the agreement, Suncorp will receive manufacturer-based assessment.

Leigh Bryan, Suncorp Group head of motor claims said: “We are excited about the potential to drive higher satisfaction for our policyholders, while offering our repairer partners easy access to comprehensive automotive data, which they have told us is one of the key barriers to them repairing our customers' cars.”
 

ACE becomes first national insurer sponsor of YIPs

ACE Group has become the first national insurer sponsor of Young Insurance Professionals, assisting the organisation as it gears up for a year of exciting events and thought-provoking seminars.

Sampath Soysa, Australasian President of YIPs, welcomed ACE on board.

NIBA ACT/NSW award winners revealed

Tony Burke of AIB has been crowned NIBA regional Broker of the Year 2014 for the ACT/NSW region.
Cara Donnelly of Paul Donnelly Insurance Brokers was named the runner-up.

Young Professional Broker of the Year went to Adam Hines of Gibbscorp and runners up were Drew Ferns of OAMPS and Eric Lowenstein of Aon.

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth said: “Once again we offer our congratulations to all the finalists here today, who exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and competence in the broking profession. There was a great deal of broking talent on show and we wish Tony and Adam the best of luck ahead of the national awards.”
