Willis has appointed Will Sare as head of corporate, Australia, giving him responsibility for the firm’s property and casualty business across the country.

Sare steps into the role from his previous position as head of sales for the Pacific, bringing experience as an insurance broker, global risk manager and producer across Australian and international markets.

His appointment comes as competition across commercial insurance remains strong, increasing the pressure on brokers to distinguish themselves when handling complex corporate accounts. In his new role, Sare will lead Willis’s Australian corporate business with immediate effect.

“Will brings extensive industry experience, proven leadership and a deep understanding of our business. Since joining Willis a year ago, he has strengthened our commercial performance and expanded the capabilities of our sales team,” Willis head of Pacific James Baum said.

“His detail-oriented approach is matched by his understanding of how our specialist expertise, analytical capabilities, proactive claims management and client service model work together. This will help clients realise greater value, especially those managing sophisticated and highly complex risk and insurance programmes. We look forward to supporting Will as he leads our Corporate business and builds on this momentum.”

Sare’s appointment also reshapes responsibilities across Willis’s Pacific leadership team.

Stephen Trickey will take on an expanded role supporting sales activity across the Pacific while continuing as head of growth for the region. Trickey was appointed to the growth role earlier this year, alongside other senior appointments across Willis’s Pacific financial risks business.

The change leaves Sare focused on the Australian corporate P&C portfolio while Trickey takes a broader role across regional sales and growth.

For Willis, the structure places separate senior responsibility around Australian corporate accounts and wider Pacific growth at a time when large commercial clients have more choice across insurers and placements. That makes the way brokers combine market access with advice, analytics and claims capabilities an increasingly important part of competing for major accounts.
