Willis Re – the reinsurance business arm of Willis Towers Watson – has appointed Cameron Hick to serve as the director of the firm’s Australian business.

As director, Hick will focus on client advocacy – delivering strategic advice, structuring assistance and insights to Willis Re’s clients in relation to their reinsurance purchase, a release said. He will also help strengthen the firm’s relationships with the global reinsurance community.

Hick has over 20 year of experience in reinsurance. He had previously been based in Zurich, serving as a global accounts executive for Partner Re. Prior to that role, he served a number of roles with Munich Re – a period that saw him based in several different locations including Melbourne, Sydney  and Germany. In Munich Re, he held roles in both treaty and facultative reinsurance, which paved the way for his later position as client manager and head of business planning, leading the non-life client management team.

In his new role, Hick will relocate from Switzerland to Australia, and will be based in Sydney starting February 01, 2021. He will report to Willis Re Australia CEO John Philipsz.

“Cameron’s deep reinsurance experience and knowledge of the global markets will add considerably  to our core reinsurance structuring and placement capabilities,” said Willis Re Australia CEO John Philipsz. “He is well known to our clients and has a strong alignment with our client advocacy model.”

Willis Re Australia chair, Cameron Green, added: “The cornerstone of our ability to provide clients with exceptional advice and execution is the depth of talent within our business. We will continue to add individuals who share our culture and our relentless client-first focus to Willis Re.”
