A major international insurer has announced a key new appointment for its business in Australia

XL Catlin has announced a new appointment for its Australian business.

Jayson Symonds will join the international insurer as a financial lines underwriter, based in Brisbane.

Symonds formerly led national financial lines at DUAL where he established the corporate risks and financial institutions teams having also work as a financial institutions underwriter at AIG during his 13 year career.

Jason Grant, regional product leader, financial lines - Australia backed Symonds to work well in the international business.

“We have a client centric approach at XL Catlin, an approach fuelled by empowered underwriters in their local markets, I am confident that Jayson has the right combination of skill and experience to drive our ambition in the market”

Country manager of Australia for XL Catlin, Robin Johnson, backed the business to continue its growth in Queensland through the Brisbane office.

“We opened our office is Brisbane back in January, locating both Geoff Still (Senior Underwriter, Property) and Steve Rogers (Senior Underwriter, Casualty) there,” Johnson said.

“The local market has been extremely supportive and we are now delighted to be adding Jayson to our Brisbane team.”
