Zurich Financial Services Australia has appointed two new non-executive directors, John Mulcahy and Kevin Wright, to the board of Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (ZAIL).

“We are focused on strategic investment and growth across all levels of Zurich,” said Rajbir Nanra, Zurich Australia and New Zealand CEO of general insurance. “The appointment of Mr. Mulcahy and Mr. Wright as non-executive directors to the ZAIL board is further evidence of our commitment to getting back to our best. The wealth and knowledge that both bring from across the financial sector is invaluable and further strengthens the execution of the new general insurance strategy in Australia and New Zealand.”

An experienced non-executive director and board chairman of ASX-listed companies, government bodies, and not-for-profit organisations, Mulcahy has served several CEO and group executive roles, including for Suncorp-Metway, Commonwealth Bank, and Lend Lease.

Wright, meanwhile, brings to the role an extensive financial industry experience in both Australia and Asian markets. Wright is also an experienced non-executive director and CEO, and was most recently interim regional CEO at Generali Asia, responsible for operations across eight countries.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Mulcahy and Mr. Wright to the ZAIL Board, their expertise and knowledge of the local and broader market will assist our strategic goal of getting back to our strengths,” said Paul Bedbrook, ZAIL board chairman.
