Nominations are now open for this year's State and Territory Steadfast Young Landcare Leadership Award, which acknowledges an individual or youth group aged 15 to 35 who promote excellence in landcare through on-ground projects and awareness-raising activities.

For this year's award, you can nominate an individual or youth group who demonstrated excellent leadership skills and encouraged the wider community to engage and participate in managing the environment and natural resources in their local area.

The winners of this year's State and Territory Steadfast Young Landcare Leadership Award will become finalists in the 2022 National Landcare Awards.

Commenting on the 2021 awards, Landcare Australia CEO Dr Shane Norrish said: “We are delighted to have Steadfast sponsoring this Young Landcare Leadership Award as it is a terrific opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate how younger Australians are pursuing excellence in landcare.”

Austcover, part of the Steadfast Group, was the naming rights sponsor of the previous awards. This year, it will be the lead sponsor of the awards to show its national support of Landcare and Steadfast Group.

Commenting on the 2021 and 2022 awards, Robert Kelly, the managing director and CEO of Steadfast, said: “We're thrilled to be sponsoring Landcare Australia's State and Territory Awards and the 2022 National Landcare Awards.

“Steadfast is committed to environmental and social governance and doing the right thing for our planet and our communities. We partnered with Landcare Australia to support their efforts to improve biodiversity and build greater resilience in Australia's food and farming systems.

“Our youth is our future, and we want to embrace those who are passionate about food and farming research and development and educate people to help them make better choices to shape a better world.”
