Sunderland Marine (Sunderland), the fixed premium insurance division of North P&I, has boosted its Australian operations by appointing Mia Bredenberg as its new Australian branch manager, effective January 31, 2022.

Before joining Sunderland, Bredenberg was a national operations manager and, more recently, the head of administration and finance at Club Marine Ltd.

A new member of Sunderland's underwriting team in Australia, she is primarily responsible for managing and developing the branch's insurance business in the region, covering the aquaculture and fishing, coastal, and specialist vessel teams. She also oversees the branch's policy and operational direction and ensures compliance with the company's financial services licence and other regulatory requirements.

She took over the responsibilities of Chris Kennedy, who spent 10 years in Melbourne and is now returning to New Zealand to work from the Nelson office, where he will continue to provide general support, primarily with the aquaculture industry.

Commenting on the new arrival, Sunderland director Craig McBurnie commended Bredenberg's wealth of experience in management and operations.

“We are delighted to welcome Mia as manager of our Australian operations,” McBurnie continued. “She will play a key role in meeting our local and global business objectives.”
