Insurtech firm BAIS has appointed Greg Joannou as its new infrastructure and customer support manager, a newly-created position.

Joannou has been with BAIS for 15 years after completing his work experience with the firm while still at TAFE. Before taking on his new role, he was responsible for migrating the BAIS infrastructure to Amazon Web Services to further improve clients' cloud-based experience – boosting the performance of the firm's system and increasing reliability.

In the newly-created role, Joannou will spearhead the closer integration of system infrastructure and customer support functions to ensure that customers get what they want.

BAIS said in a statement that the newly-created position aims to improve the firm's level of service delivery by aligning technology infrastructure closer to supporting customers.

On choosing to appoint from its experienced team, the insurtech firm described Joannou as having the strongest skill set for the role.

“It's always good to see home-grown talent being stretched, moved forward, and taking on new responsibilities,” said BAIS chief executive David Hampton. “Greg is already part of the BAIS leadership team, and it is his can-do attitude that helped in formalising this role.

“Greg brings extensive experience of insurance technology, which means he is adept at talking to clients in their own language and effectively translating their technology requirements.”

BAIS' Australian-based team has an average tenure of over 10 years, with the vast majority skilled in insurance and IT.
