20+ years experience

Paul Lucas is one of the insurance media industry's most decorated editors, serving as Global Editor of Insurance Business - overseeing all editorial output across the brand's regional titles worldwide.

An award-winning journalist and editor with credits spanning national newspapers and leading consumer finance platforms, Paul began his career at Trinity Mirror, and later contributed to titles including The Sun and The Daily Record, before being named UK Motoring Journalist of the Year in 2009. He has since established himself as a defining voice in specialist B2B publishing.

Under his leadership, Insurance Business has become the industry's most recognised media brand. He led the title to consecutive Insurance & Risk Publication of the Year honours at the WTW Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2021; Publication of the Year at the 2022 BIBA Awards; a Tabbies Silver Award for Best B2B Website in 2023; and Best Website at the APEX Grand Awards in 2024. In 2025, Paul added a second APEX Grand Award - Best Electronic Media - in his role as host of Insurance Business TV, reflecting his evolution into broadcast journalism.

Beyond insurance media, Paul has contributed expertise to some of the UK's most trusted consumer finance destinations, including gocompare.com and Aark International, and formerly served as editor of moneysupermarket.com.

How I think about writing for this industry…

“We cover broker-focused news through the lens that matters most to brokers - what it means for their clients, their businesses and the wider insurance market. As the most-read publisher in the global insurance industry, our role is not simply to report what is happening, but to provide the context, insight and practical relevance that helps insurance professionals understand why it matters. Our editorial approach is rooted in strong journalism, industry expertise and a clear understanding of the broker audience. Whether we're covering market movements, regulation, technology, risk, carrier strategy or emerging opportunities, we focus on the issues that affect brokers' day-to-day decisions and the direction of their businesses. We aim to cut through industry noise, challenge promotional narratives and deliver reporting that is credible, relevant and genuinely useful to the insurance professionals we serve.”
