An understanding of the principles and practices of arranging reinsurance on a global scale will be the topic of study for this year’s Aon Benfield scholarship winner.

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Aon Benfield announced the launch and opening of the 2014 scholarship this week.

The scholarship, which is in its tenth year, is open to Australian and New Zealand permanent residents with at least two years’ experience working in insurance or reinsurance.

The winner will attend the 49th annual Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar in London from 23 June to 3 July 2014.

Robert De Souza, President APAC/CEO Australia and New Zealand Aon Benfield, and chair of the judging panel believes the scholarship is a great career step for insurance professionals.

“The Aon Benfield Scholarship is a great opportunity to engage in practical and technical learning of reinsurance  in the heart of one of the world’s great insurance markets in London.

“The winner will not only be part of a unique networking experience at the Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar, but will also gain invaluable knowledge and experience to help them grow and enhance their career aspirations.”

Prue Willsford, CEO of ANZIIF, said she strongly encourages people to apply to enhance their professional development.

“Scholarships of this nature help practitioners to continue to engage with and learn about the industry.”

Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday 22 April. The winner will be announced in May and presented with their prize in August at the Annual Australian Insurance Industry Awards in Sydney.
