AA Insurance has announced significant changes to its Board of Directors.

Doug McTaggart, the chair of the AA Insurance Board, will be stepping down in December 2023 after rendering five years of service to the organization.

Stepping into the position of AA Insurance’s board chair in December will be Alison Barrass (pictured, left), a seasoned business leader with extensive experience in New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Barrass, who currently serves as an independent director on various boards including Spark, Zespri International, Babich Wines, and Rockit Global, joined Suncorp New Zealand’s boards in September 2022.

Additionally, Andrew MacFarlane is set to step down from the board in early October. However, he will continue in his role as the CFO of Suncorp New Zealand.

With this, Adam Bennett (pictured, right) is set to join AA Insurance’s board in the same month. Adam, the group executive technology and operations officer at Suncorp, brings over 25 years of experience in leading customer relationship, technology, and operational teams from his previous roles at Commonwealth Banking of Australia (CBA), Kearney management consulting, and Ernst & Young.

“On behalf of the executive team, I wish to thank Doug and Andrew for their significant contributions to AA Insurance’s success,” AA Insurance chief executive Michelle James said. “We are fortunate to have Alison and Adam join the board at such a transformative time for our business. Their skills and experience will be invaluable as we continue to execute our strategy and create more great experiences for our customers now and into the future.”
