AGCS appoints regional manager for liability, Pacific

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Sam Poquiz (pictured above) as regional manager for liability for AGCS Pacific.

In this role, Poquiz leads the liability team in Australia and supports the growth of AGCS in the Pacific region by developing and executing the local underwriting strategy. He relocates from Canada to Australia, where he is based with the local embedded AGCS entity.

Poquiz is a technical insurance professional with over 20 years’ experience in risk-managed casualty underwriting, including more than seven years with AGCS, covering the liability line of business in various roles. He was most recently interim head of business analysis and system transformation at AGCS, which involved portfolio management, monitoring and steering of the global liability book.

Prior to AGCS, Poquiz held underwriting positions at RSA Group, ACE Group, and American International Group.

According to AGCS, its liability team in the Pacific focuses on base industries and construction, oil and gas, food and beverage, pharmchem, heavy industry and manufacturing, utilities, services, as well as IT and communication segments.
