Aon has announced the appointment of Adam Cox as the new director of One Underwriting to lead the firm’s expanding managing general agent business.

Cox brings over 27 years of industry experience, including from his most recent role with Swiss Reinsurance Company Limited where he was responsible for leading ANZ business strategy as country manager, corporate solutions.

In his new role, Cox will lead a specialist national team of 30 underwriters, collectively holding 200 years of experience, to expand and leverage Aon’s global capabilities locally.

“In hiring Adam, we’re committing to developing new, innovative products and evolving our value proposition for our clients and our brokers,” Aon - Broking Pacific managing director, commercial, and chairman, James Baum said.

Cox said he looks forward to leading the growth of Aon’s distribution footprint through expansion of its third-party broker network.

Former One Underwriting director Alison Smith, meanwhile, will move into Aon’s broking arena, as the new regional director for Southern and Western - Commercial.

“One Underwriting provides broking clients with unparalleled access to an enhanced range of unique products and services,” Smith said. “Our underwriters are specialists in their niche product areas, enabling brokers to tap into a depth of knowledge on coverage, pricing and technical expertise for their clients.

“I look forward to promoting this expertise and driving the profitable expansion of our product portfolio.”

According to Aon, the new appointments complement its established operational expertise and its ambitious and strategic growth agenda.

“As regional director, we are confident Alison will deliver exceptional results for the continued growth and expansion of our commercial offer across the regions,” Baum added.
