Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal has appointed Geoffrey Bull and Jaime Garcia-Anton Lopez as casualty treaty underwriter and professional indemnity (PI) underwriter, respectively.

Beefing up the firm’s casualty division, ArgoGlobal said the appointments are effective immediately, with Bull reporting to international casualty treaty class underwriter Stuart Dale while Garcia-Anton Lopez joins PI class underwriter James McPartland. Head of casualty Ryan Barnes noted that the key hires’ skills and expertise will enable the Argo Group member to quickly adapt to market developments and realise opportunities.

With 17 years of underwriting and actuarial experience, Bull makes the switch from Chaucer Syndicates Limited where he held the position of class underwriter – international casualty and specialty treaty. He also worked at Swiss Re and PwC.

Garcia-Anton Lopez, meanwhile, brings with him 18 years of industry experience in Lloyd’s and the European specialty insurance market. Prior to ArgoGlobal, he served as PI underwriter at QBE’s European division and at HCC Europe.

“Geoffrey’s experience underwriting treaty business, combined with his strong actuarial background, will enhance ArgoGlobal’s ability to build and launch innovative solutions, such as the motor treaty consortium we established recently with Barbican,” said Barnes. “Jaime’s deep understanding of the PI sector, along with his extensive experience underwriting in European markets, will be key to Argo’s strategy of delivering risk-transfer solutions that best reflect clients’ local needs.”
