AXIS Re Strategic Partners has now been formally unveiled, following an earlier announcement detailing changes happening at the reinsurance giant.

Part of Axis Re’s plans to enhance its client engagement model was the formation of a dedicated team to serve clients and brokers – which has now come to life with the appointment of strategic account executives for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). These are Herndon Stokes, Simon Stirnemann, and Juan Manuel Martín Leon.

Stokes makes the switch from Munich Re, where he spent 13 years and led global account management activities for multinational property and casualty reinsurance clients.

Stirnemann, meanwhile, has been with AXIS Re for about the same time. He most recently served as senior casualty underwriter in Singapore, where he established the reinsurer’s casualty business in Asia.

A senior underwriter for property prior to his new role, Martín Leon has been a member of the AXIS Re team for nine years. The appointment will see his remit widen to include strategic account executive duties.

All three will be based in Zurich, while additional hires for North America and Asia will follow. Part of the global markets division, AXIS Re Strategic Partners is headed by interim president Rob Smart.
