Canopius AG group chief underwriting officer Mike Duffy will now have to juggle his current role with another one, having been appointed as chief executive of Canopius Managing Agents. The group’s principal regulated entity also has a new chief underwriting officer, in the form of Sarah Willmont, who previously served as group deputy CUO.
“These are exciting times at Canopius and it is an honour and a privilege to take on the role of CEO of Canopius Managing Agents,” commented Duffy. “We have a hugely talented group of people across the group, and I look forward to working with them.”
The industry veteran, who joined Canopius more than a decade ago, started his career in 1980 and worked at the likes of Marsh, Guy Carpenter, and Ace Global Markets. Willmont, on the other hand, came on board in 2014. The former Aon Benfield senior broker also becomes active underwriter of Syndicate 4444.
“We have a clear underwriting strategy in place and will continue to focus our attention on those areas where we excel and can add real value, as we expand and grow the business in a sustainable way,” she said. “There is a lot to do, and I am looking forward to getting on with the job.”
