Chubb has appointed John Latter (pictured) as head of claims for Chubb Overseas General (COG), effective immediately.

Latter, who has 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, previously served as senior vice president, claims director for Europe, Eurasia and Africa, where he led the strategic claims direction for property, casualty, financial lines, marine, aviation and energy claims. Latter joined Chubb in 2017 from Zurich Insurance, where he held various senior claims roles.

In his new role, Latter will supervise Chubb’s claims organisations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Far East.

Paul McNamee, executive vice president of Chubb Group and president of Overseas General Insurance, said he was confident that Latter will build on his expertise to maintain the company’s culture of high performance and service.

“John exemplifies the technical expertise and the service culture of Chubb and I’m confident he will build on this legacy through his leadership of our claims organisation internationally,” he commented.

Chubb earlier reported an “outstanding” Q3, with core operating income and earnings per share up 14.3% and 15.6%, respectively. The company also saw “excellent” P&C underwriting results during the quarter, attributed to strong contributions from all divisions despite catastrophe losses across the industry.

Latter’s promotion also follow a series of leadership moves announced earlier this year.

George Ohsiek was named vice president, Chubb Group and chief accounting officer. He succeeded Annmarie Hagan in the role, who became vice president, Chubb Group and chief financial officer of operations & technology and transformation. Mong-Diep Le was named chief auditor, Ohsiek’s previous role.

The company also appointed executives for its Eastern Region sector, naming Peter Kelaher as division president of Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Leander Metzger was named regional executive officer for the Eastern Region.

Elsewhere in the company, Chubb launched a new construction industry practice in the UK and Ireland, which aims to build comprehensive support across multiple risk areas.
