CoreLogic has appointed Pierre Wiart as its new head of consulting and risk management, Australasia, a move which comes as CoreLogic Australasia joins forces with Munich Re.

Wiart has extensive experience and qualifications in catastrophe modelling within the insurance, banking, investment, and government sectors. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a senior associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Before joining CoreLogic, he served as the managing director at Risk Management Solutions (RMS) Australasia, where he was responsible for the region’s growth within the insurance, banking, and government sectors.

“It is very exciting to be joining CoreLogic Australia as they build out innovative risk management services to help the insurance and financial services sectors be better positioned to make informed decisions when managing the numerous risks presented by weather-related natural disasters,” Wiart said.

“The partnership with Munich Re will help our clients to prepare for future climate change impacts by understanding their exposure to climate-related risks, conducting home loan portfolio stress testing scenarios, and supporting the origination strategies for new home loan applications.”

In his new role, Wiart will lead the consulting and risk management team for Australia and New Zealand, focusing on climate risk strategy execution and risk management solutions for the insurance and financial services segments. He will also work with the market team to deliver CoreLogic’s growth and engagement strategy for the insurance vertical.

Milena Malev, CoreLogic Australia general manager of financial services and insurance, commented: “I am delighted that we have Pierre on board with his vast expertise in risk management and knowledge of catastrophe modelling. With Pierre’s appointment and the new partnership with Munich Re, CoreLogic Australasia is now well placed to offer property data insights to our clients so that they may better understand and manage climate-related financial risks.”
