The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) of Fiji has implemented a new medical insurance policy for 240 of its employees. This initiative targets staff members within the Grade 1 to Grade 7 salary range.

In collaboration with BSP Life, TLTB's insurance package offers comprehensive benefits. Eligible employees will receive outpatient medical insurance, which includes coverage for hospital stays in local hospitals, overseas evacuation for specialised medical treatments, and provisions for dental, optical, and maternity care.

TLTB interim CEO Solomoni Nata said in a Fiji Times report that the decision to extend medical insurance coverage reflects TLTB's approach to ensuring its employees' financial security in medical emergencies. Nata highlighted the company's commitment to fairness and inclusivity, emphasising that this policy is a step towards recognising the efforts of employees in these specific grades.

“The TLTB has considered the plight of 240 employees in this grade bracket and has provided them with this insurance cover to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and recognition as employees of the board,” Nata said.

Elsewhere in the Pacific, Niue has secured parametric insurance coverage facilitated by the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC), aligning with other Pacific nations in a collective push for enhanced fiscal safeguarding against natural calamities.
