Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has appointed Amanda Whiting as chief executive of IAG New Zealand.

Subject to completion of regulatory approvals in New Zealand, Whiting is taking over from Craig Olsen in August after acting as group executive for direct insurance Australia. Olsen, meanwhile, will become group executive for strategic projects.

Also, Jarrod Hill – who, as Insurance Business reported yesterday, is leaving Chubb where he served as country president for Australia and New Zealand – is joining IAG in September to take up the role of group executive for intermediated insurance Australia.

The insurance giant announced other leadership appointments as well.

Taking on the chief operating officer position is Neil Morgan, while former chief strategy & innovation officer Julie Batch – who previously acted as group executive for intermediated insurance Australia – is now group executive for direct insurance Australia.

“I’m pleased to announce several key executive appointments today as we move to quickly embed our organisational structure led by a strong, experienced, and disciplined leadership team,” said IAG CEO and managing director Nick Hawkins.

“The appointments are testament to the capability we have within our company and our ability to attract new leaders to the business.”
