Insurance provider AMP has appointed Rob Dibley to the role of Head of General Insurance as the company seeks to redefine its position in the marketplace.

His new role will see Dibley be responsible for developing and executing the growth strategy for AMP’s general insurance solutions in conjunction with AMP’s general insurance partner, Vero.

The 30-year veteran comes most recently from NZI where he headed up the personal products distribution channel and before that he held the role of channel manager for broker personal lines and business partners at Lumley.

He has held senior management roles both in New Zealand and the UK and previously managed a B2C transformation for international specialist insurer Hiscox.

AMP New Zealand’s general manager of investments and insurance, Therese Singleton, said: “Rob has in-depth knowledge of the industry, strong commercial acumen and outstanding relationship management skills, which will be essential in his new role working closely with our distribution channels and our product and marketing teams to drive business growth.”

As part of its aggressive growth plan for its general insurance business, the company is looking to raise consumer awareness of the full range of its insurance portfolio.

Earlier this month MediaWorks confirmed that AMP has signed on as broadcast sponsor for the upcoming season of TV3’s The Block NZ: Villa Wars.

Dibley said it was an exciting time to join AMP.

“AMP has a great reputation and has been supporting the financial welfare of customers for 160 years. As the market changes and consumer and business needs change, AMP is in a strong position to help more New Zealanders than ever before to grow their wealth and protect what’s important to them.”
