Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Jane Warren as active underwriter. Warren (pictured above) will be based in London and will report to Phil Hobbs, deputy managing director and chief underwriting officer for LSM.

Warren succeeds Peter Smith, who recently moved into an expanded role with Liberty Mutual Re. As LSM’s active underwriter, she will be responsible for managing Lloyd’s Syndicate 4472. Prior to being named active underwriter, Warren was LSM’s UK legal entity managing director, a role she will retain in addition to her new responsibilities.

“Jane has broad experience and an excellent track record in the industry,” Hobbs said. “She is a strong leader and is ideally placed to build on our impressive 2020 results and grow our position as one of the leading managing agents at Lloyd’s. I am delighted to appoint her as the active underwriter for LSM.”

Warren has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience in senior management, operations, reinsurance underwriting, risk management, broking and regulatory roles. Prior to joining LSM in 2019, she served as chief operating officer at AXIS Specialty Europe.
