Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has announced a new CEO for its operations in the Pacific.

Willem van Wyk will take on the role, replacing Holger Schaefer who is now the regional CEO of Asia Pacific for Allianz Group company Euler Hermes.

Van Wyk joined Allianz in 2008 as head of market management for AGCS Pacific and moved to the Middle East in 2015 to become CEO of AGCS Dubai.

Chief regions and markets officer for AGCS, Carsten Scheffel, said that van Wyk was perfectly suited to the CEO role.

"Willem has achieved an outstanding result as the CEO of AGCS Dubai and is the perfect successor to Holger,” Scheffel said.

“Willem returns to the Pacific region where he not only has a highly regarded reputation but a strong knowledge of the business.

“I have every confidence Willem will take our team in AGCS Pacific to the next level.”

Van Wyk brings more than 25 years’ experience to the new role and will take on the position on June 6.
