Allianz Global Assistance (AGA) has announced their new CEO as Renato Mattos.

The travel insurance and assistance provider, which is the specialist brand of Allianz Worldwide Partners, said Mattos would take over from former CEO Phil Hibbert.

AGA said his appointment came at a time of considerable growth within the business which would make his energy and experience ‘invaluable.’

“Renato will bring his extensive experience built from his previous roles at Allianz Worldwide Partners in the European, South American and Asia Pacific markets,” the company said in a statement today.

“His focused leadership and wealth of industry experience has led to the successful implementation of best practice programs across the globe.

“Most recently, he was chief operating officer for the Asia Pacific region, responsible for driving operational improvements and transformational change.”

AGA said Mattos’ new role would focus on taking the business in New Zealand to the ‘next level’, including enhancing and diversifying the current product portfolios and services available.

Mattos said: “It’s going to be a great privilege to lead the business through this exciting phase.

“The main focus will be diversifying the business offerings and strengthening our relationship with current partners.

“I have been part of the Allianz family for over 14 years which has allowed me to work with numerous parts of the business in many different markets.

“This role is an exciting new challenge and I look forward to taking us to the next level.”
