From AIG to IAG
AIG’s NZ manager Package (SME) Jeff Crawford has left to take a new position at NZI.

John Chandler, general manager commercial sales at NZI, said this was another key appointment for the company.

“It’s a great testament to how NZI is viewed by the market that we’re able to attract someone of Jeff’s calibre.  We’re excited to welcome him on board.”

Reinsurer reports ‘pleasing’ quarterly profit
Munich Re has started off 2015 with a quarterly profit of 790 million euros which CFO Jorg Schneider said was satisfactory despite the result for the same quarter last year being 941 million euros.

“We have started off well, although investment has again been made more difficult by the expansive policies of the central banks,” Schneider said.

“We are well on track to achieve our result target of 2.5-3 billion euros for the year as a whole.”

Expanded role for broker’s CEO
President and CEO of Marsh, Peter Zaffino, has been appointed chairman of the company’s risk & insurance services segment, which includes Marsh and Guy Carpenter.

Zaffino will continue to serve as president and CEO of Marsh reporting to Daniel S Glaser, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan, the company said.

Marsh & McLennan also announced that Peter Hearn, most recently chairman of Willis Re, will join Guy Carpenter as its CEO in May 2016.

“Peter Zaffino has demonstrated outstanding management skills leading Marsh and previously Guy Carpenter and has established broad retail and reinsurance expertise,” Glaser said.

“Peter Hearn has been an innovator throughout his career and will strengthen Guy Carpenter’s position as a premier provider of strategic advice and industry-leading solutions for our clients,” he said.
