nib New Zealand has announced the appointment of Josephine Gagan and Sophie Haslem as non-executive directors to the board.
The appointments were acknowledged by chairman Tony Ryall and effective Feb. 1.
Gagan (pictured, left) currently serves as chair of the New Zealand Health Group and sits on the board of the Auckland Hospital Foundation, along with chairing the Minds for Minds Trust. She previously held the position of group chief executive of the New Zealand Health Group Limited and served as chief executive and owner of Geneva Healthcare for over two decades, based in Auckland.
Gagan is recognised for her strategic acumen in the healthcare sector, particularly in leadership management, workforce diversity, and strategic management.
Haslem (pictured, right) holds the position of chair at Kordia Group Limited and serves as deputy chair at CentrePort Limited. Additionally, she is a member of the board of Rangatira Limited, Payments New Zealand Limited, and Livestock Improvement Corporation. She also served on the board of Ngai Tahi Holdings Corporations, managing over $2 billion in tribal assets.
With over 25 years of diverse commercial experience spanning large corporations and early-stage growth companies, Haslem's background includes corporate and investment banking, management consulting, and key executive roles at New Zealand Post Ltd. Her expertise encompasses governance, mergers and acquisitions, business strategy, and technology.
Ryall expressed his satisfaction with the new appointments.

The appointments signify nib's board overhaul. As part of ongoing succession planning, Jacqueline Chow relinquished her position from the nib New Zealand board last year but continues to serve as an independent non-executive director on the nib Group board. Meanwhile, Alvin Soh recently took on the role of chief financial officer at nib New Zealand.
