Dual New Zealand managing director Craig Anderson is on sick leave and is in hospital, according to a statement Anderson has given Insurance Business.

Following a week of intense speculation as to the reasons why, Anderson said: “I am not really in a position to discuss insurance matters.”

When Insurance Business contacted Dual Asia Pacific CEO Damien Coates he said he could confirm that Anderson was on leave for ‘personal reasons’.

He said: “Craig Anderson is on leave for personal reasons and at this point in time Dual NZ is not able to make any further comment.”

Coates said he continued to have overall responsibility for Dual’s operations in Asia Pacific which included Dual NZ.

He said he was currently spending three to four days a week in Auckland during this period.

“Dual remains committed to the New Zealand market where it’s very much business as usual for our brokers and clients.”

He went on to say how important New Zealand is as a key growth territory in their Asia Pacific group.

“In just four years we have built a $35 million GWP business with the support of our incredible team of 22 people and phenomenal support of our key clients and brokers.

“We are excited about the growth opportunities and future direction of Dual New Zealand.”
