Adrian Sweeney (pictured) is taking on the role of Zurich New Zealand general manager on February 1.
The appointment, which was announced this afternoon by Zurich Financial Services Australia, follows Brett Wainhouse’s move to Melbourne. Wainhouse served as the insurer’s New Zealand regional manager before he assumed the position of state manager for Victoria and Tasmania this year.
“Zurich New Zealand has a long-standing reputation for driving positive outcomes for its local customers and the community,” commented Sweeney, whose credentials include decades spent at multiple Zurich Insurance Group locations.
“I am delighted to be joining the team and look forward to further advancing Zurich’s position in the New Zealand market.”
Sweeney most recently served as underwriting manager for Delta Insurance New Zealand. He left the underwriting agency at the end of 2022.
Zurich Australia & New Zealand general insurance head Alex Morgan said in an emailed release: “Mr Sweeney brings a strong breadth of global experience, paired with technical and leadership capability, which will be key to driving Zurich New Zealand’s continued delivery of quality products and services for its customers.”
