Charles Taylor Adjusting has partnered with Carter Briggs Hurle (CBH) Adjusting to strengthen its claims-handling capabilities in New Zealand, as well as across Australia and the Pacific Islands.

The new collaboration is designed to enhance service delivery for complex and large-scale insurance claims in the region, with a particular focus on catastrophe response.

Charles Taylor’s focus on bolstering its claims-handling capabilities, especially during catastrophes, highlights the growing role of secondary perils in insurance claims. S&P Global Market Intelligence’s recent report revealed that these perils played a major role in the global reinsurance industry’s inability to earn its cost of capital in five of six years between 2017 and 2022.

The partnership with CBH Adjusting broadens Charles Taylor’s existing network of regional associates, which includes partners in India, Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines. It aims to deliver consistent claims expertise across the Asia-Pacific region.

CBH Adjusting provides claims management services in areas such as property, liability, business interruption, construction, financial lines, event cancellation, litigation support, and disaster response. The firm also offers forensic accounting services to address a wide range of insurance needs.

Mark Thompson, regional head for Charles Taylor Adjusting in Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the importance of the partnership.

“With the catastrophe season looming in our region, the addition of CBH to our network of trusted associates is timely and will be welcomed by many of our clients,” he said, adding that the partnership ensures that claims in New Zealand will be managed by an experienced team with local expertise.

Jake Carter, director of CBH, noted that the partnership also grants CBH access to Charles Taylor’s global resources, further strengthening its ability to address clients’ needs.

“We are pleased to be the associate of Charles Taylor in New Zealand as we share our core business of providing comprehensive loss adjusting and forensic accounting solutions to meet the growing needs of clients today,” he said.

Charles Taylor expands marine services in Asia Pacific

The associateship follows the expansion of Charles Taylor’s marine technical services (MTS) team across key locations in Asia Pacific, including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.

This strategic initiative is intended to address increasing demand for specialised marine claims support across borders.

The expanded team will handle complex marine projects, such as damage assessments for vessels operating between jurisdictions and overseeing repair work in key hubs like Singapore.
