Diversity & Inclusion

Delta Insurance has announced its support for the upcoming Dive In Festival, a global initiative aimed at accelerating efforts to promote a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive industry.

The insurer this week unveiled its “Walk the Talk” event at its headquarters in Auckland, in collaboration with partner and claims management specialist Sedgwick. The “Walk the Talk” event is scheduled for September 28 and will feature a panel of highly esteemed speakers, with global Dive In Festival activities occurring from September 26 to 28.

Dive In Festival, led by Lloyd’s, is a global movement in the insurance sector that supports the development of inclusive workplace cultures and strives to level the playing field for talent. In 2023, with 38 countries already confirmed to participate, the theme is “Unlocking Innovation: The Power of Inclusion.”

Through activities coordinated worldwide, the insurance industry will explore how Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) can unlock the innovation needed to address some of the world's most significant challenges.

The panel for this event includes prominent leaders in business and culture who have demonstrated their commitment to DE&I:

  • Rajna Bogdanovic, founder and managing director, Clinical & Organisational Psychologist at First Response Health
  • Margo Ward, founder and CEO of KidsXpress
  • Fiona Fonti, managing director at The Rehabilitation Specialists and occupational therapist
  • Ryan McGrory, founder & employee experience enthusiast at Exsona consultancy

Delta Insurance Casualty and Financial Lines underwriter Daniel Toebosch (pictured above) will moderate the debate, designed as an inclusive presentation that welcomes and encourages participation from the audience.

“Walk the Talk is about demonstrable action towards effective DE&I. Walking the talk is about doing, rather than speaking. This is where the rubber hits the road and real change, and results are generated. DE&I is a founding principle at Delta, creating a company, workspaces, and a reputation built on the individual and combined characteristics of our people, where diversity is embraced, culture celebrated, and competence encouraged and built through collaboration and association,” Delta Insurance Group CEO Kent Chaplin said.

“Our efforts were recently manifested in Delta Insurance being awarded as 2023 Top Insurance Employer by Insurance Business New Zealand.  We’ve taken actions to walk the talk ourselves, and now we’re pleased to present our live event while enthusiastically contributing to the Dive In Festival in spirit and in action,” Chaplin said.
