Southern Cross has been recognised in the 2023 Reader’s Digest NZ “most trusted brands” survey, with the insurer topping three different categories across all brands and services in Aotearoa.

The firm was recognised as the most trusted name in the health insurance category for a seventh consecutive year, as well as a top spot in the travel and life insurance categories. In addition, Southern Cross also received a highly commended nod in the pet insurance category.

The survey, which is conducted by Catalyst, is a long-running annual distinction event that celebrates the most trusted brands across 70 different categories. This year saw the addition of travel insurance as a new category. More than 1,700 consumers participated in the survey.

The insurer also celebrated a successful year besides the distinctions from the Reader’s Digest. The firm won the ITIJ international travel insurance company of the year award in recognition of its swift response to the pandemic, its products and policies, and its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Southern Cross Health Society chief executive Nick Astwick said that he was proud of the teams’ efforts to support Kiwis in their journey towards good health, with the Reader’s Digest commendations a testament to the hard work the insurer puts in for its customers.

“We currently help look after the health of more than 930,000 people and support wellbeing in almost 3,500 workplaces. We also care for more than 62,000 of the country’s pets and covered more than 185,000 Kiwi travellers last year,” Astiwick said. “Keeping this high level of trust in our range of insurance services is a big job, but it’s something our people keep turning up to earn each and every day.”

The insurer’s travel insurance product underwent an overhaul, and now includes pets and child care for its customers.
