AIG UK boosts claims service with ‘powerful’ tool

Insurance News

AIG UK is enhancing its claims service to motor fleet customers by harnessing cloud-based technology from software provider VUEcloud Limited.

The improved service enables policyholders to upload files directly to the cloud, such as photos and video footage, from any internet-enabled device including smartphones, laptops and dashcams, where AIG can access them instantly.

Steve Agutter, head of European claims at AIG, said the cloud-based technology is a “great step forward” in the insurer’s motor fleet claims service. It also shows how the company collaborates with its partners to deliver innovations solutions.

“Images are the most powerful evidence in motor claims, and this new technology brings a number of key benefits,” Agutter said. “It eliminates the risk of footage being lost in transit, supports early resolution of liability and speeds up response times.

“This ultimately assists in driving down the cost of claims – good news for our customers,” he added, calling the cloud-based technology a “powerful tool in supporting the fight against fraudulent claims.”

Agutter noted that insurance fraud reached a record high of £1.32 billion in 2014, based on research from the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
