The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) have opened submissions for the 2017 ICNZ and ANZIIF Scholarship, designed to inspire and build leadership potential among young insurance professionals.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a direct employee of an ICNZ member; be citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand; and be below 35 years old.

Interested individuals must submit a 2,500-word essay in response to a provided question about how technology and education are changing the industry landscape and leading insurers and brokers to evaluate their business strategy at a fundamental level.

The winner will get a NZ$10,000 prize and a chance to attend an international industry event, leadership conference or seminar program.

"We are delighted to offer this opportunity to a member of the New Zealand insurance community. This scholarship will not only give the winner new skills and knowledge to help them to develop their leadership abilities, it will also enhance their understanding of the industry in a global context, and allow them to represent New Zealand among their international counterparts,’" said Tim Grafton, ICNZ chief executive.

"In today’s global market, the opportunity for the next generation of insurance leaders to grow and develop their leadership skills, international business networks, and industry knowledge is invaluable,"ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said.

Applications for the scholarship will close at 5 pm (NZST) on Oct. 30. The winner will be announced in late 2017.
