American International Group (AIG) has announced the appointment of Kathleen Zortman as president and CEO of Private Client Group, General Insurance. Zortman will be based in New York and will report to Peter Zaffino, CEO of AIG General Insurance and global chief operating officer. She will also serve as a member of the general insurance executive leadership team and will join the company in the coming months.

In her new role, Zortman will lead AIG’s global high-net-worth portfolio and take responsibility for strategy, underwriting and distribution in the company’s private-client business. She will also manage the portfolio’s product lines, including personal auto, umbrella and homeowners’ policies.

Prior to AIG, Zortman served as president of property and casualty, North America, for QBE Insurance Group. She has also served as chief field executive for Fireman’s Fund Insurance, and has held leadership roles at Professional Risk Solutions, Johnson & Higgins, Deloitte and Chubb.

“Kathleen is an industry leader with a proven track record of building successful businesses,” Zaffino said. “She will be an excellent addition to the general insurance executive leadership team as we position our business to meet the evolving needs of our high-net-worth clients.”

“I am pleased to join AIG leading general insurance’s Private Client Group business as we develop and deliver market-leading products and solutions to the high-net-worth client segment,” Zortman said.
