Aon has announced a new appointment for its health and benefits team as the international broker looks to expand its business in Australia.

Neil Robertson will take on the role of sales director for the broker’s health and services business, bringing 17 years’ experience in the life, accident and health and medical insurance markets in both the UK and Australia. Robertson spent the last three years at JLT’s benefit solutions practice and was most recently the national manager of corporate life insurance.

Jennifer Richards, managing director, specialties, at Aon, said that the broker sees an opportunity in the health and benefits market and the addition of Robertson will help the business further its growth.

“Aon is continuing to invest in health and benefits talent to address the unique opportunity we are seeing within the Australian market,” Richards said. “There is an increasing demand to deliver compelling, flexible and integrated solutions to our clients and, as a result, we need to ensure Aon remains focused on meeting client needs by having the right people like Neil to drive our value proposition.”

Robertson, who brings knowledge of the group insurance and employee benefits market globally to the Australian arm of the firm, said that Aon has utilised technology and data to boost its services to clients.

“Over the next 12 months, I will be focusing on developing our data points and proposition to allow clients to understand the return on investment of a fully integrated insured employee benefits and wellness program,” Robertson said.
