A Western Australian woman is being praised for her creative insurance claim after describing – and drawing – the “massive dinosaur-like creature” which caused a collision.

According to the claim form, Fiona Cosgove was driving to her home in Arrowsmith East when she was involved in an accident.

“It was approximately 7pm as we drove along Tompkins Road when, out from out of the scrub, jumped a massive dinosaur-like creature,” she told WA Today.

“My husband let out a shriek but alas it was too late,” she added.

In fact, the vehicle had hit a kangaroo but Cosgrove said it was important her insurer understood the size of the animal – so she drew a picture.

“As you can see from my drawings, which I must add was drawn to scale, he was a huge beast,” she told the news outlet.

Cosgrove was also clear about who was to blame – “Kangaroo for jumping out in front from the scrub,” she wrote on the claim form, when asked who she thought was at fault.

While Cosgrove’s Kia Sorrento suffered a broken fog light, bent wheel arch and damaged door, the passengers inside were completely unharmed.

“Luckily I’m an extremely experienced bush rally driver and I was able to complete the rest of the journey without incident, allowing my three children to carry on sleeping and my husband to continue to tell me how to drive,” she said.
