A leading Australian insurtech has confirmed it will be expanding into Africa as the continent’s insurance sector shows an increased demand for digitisation.

Claim Central Consolidated announced its expansion yesterday morning with the new practice set to operate under the moniker of Claim Central Africa.

“With the Africa insurance market maturing, insurers are becoming increasingly optimistic about a rise in premiums across the continent,” said global CEO Brian Siemsen. “The opportunities are varied – from large infrastructure projects by foreign investors, to the growing middle class and an awareness to insure against natural disasters is also rising.”

Claim Central’s Africa division will be led by Ronald Gall, who has more than 17 years’ experience working in the African insurance industry and will report directly to Siemsen.

“Claim Central is transforming the way property and motor claims are managed through digitalisation, and is well positioned to become the new global standard,” said Gall.

“I’m excited to bring this unique combination of disruptive technology, simple processes and relentless focus on the customer to African insurers to elevate their claims handling capabilities.”

Most recently, he was the founding partner for WiCover which creates on-demand client experiences for insurance partners globally. He also served as a director for Global Choices South Africa, where he developed and implemented 24-Hour Assistance and Value Added Service programs.
