Global property and casualty insurer Chubb has appointed Grant Cairns to a new regional role.

Cairns, Chubb’s current head of financial lines for Asia-Pacific based in Singapore, will become head of property and casualty for the region. He will replace Jason Keen, who will take on a new role as division president at Chubb Global Markets early next year.

In his new role, Cairns will have overall management responsibility for Chubb’s extensive commercial property and casualty business across the region, which includes property and terrorism, energy, construction, casualty, financial lines, environmental, SME, marine, and industry practice solutions. He will report to Paul McNamee, Chubb’s regional president for Asia Pacific.

Cairns has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined Chubb in 2004 as financial lines manager for Victoria and was promoted to financial lines manager for Australia and New Zealand in 2007. He relocated to London in 2013 to become regional manager of financial lines for Chubb’s continental Europe and Africa. He also became financial lines manager for the UK and Ireland before returning to the Asia Pacific in 2018.

“Grant is an astute underwriter who has a strong work ethic and passion for the business,” McNamee said. “I have every confidence in Grant’s leadership of the property and casualty business given his deep technical expertise and global experience.”
