Chubb has announced a pair of changes to its local arm, with a new country president for Australia and New Zealand.

John French, currently country president for Australia and New Zealand, will move into the regional role of senior vice president head of broker distribution, Asia Pacific, and will be replaced by Jarrod Hill.

Hill, currently executive vice president, head of property for Chubb Overseas General, will succeed French when both roles become effective in February 2018.

Hill was previously regional head of property and casualty for Chubb in Asia Pacific and will be based in Sydney in his latest role, and will report to Paul McNamee, Chubb’s regional president for Asia Pacific.

French has led Chubb’s Australian and New Zealand operations for close to four years, following a stint in the same role in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

In his new role, French will continue to be based in Sydney and will report to Jason Keen, Chubb’s regional head of property and casualty for Asia Pacific.

McNamee said that French had done “an exceptional job” leading Chubb in Australia and New Zealand during a transformation which saw the firm merge with Ace.

“We draw great comfort from having such a seasoned executive leading our brokerage distribution in the Asia Pacific region,” McNamee said.

McNamee noted that Hill’s leadership experience will help him adapt to his new role quickly.

“I'm confident that both Jarrod and John will succeed in leveraging the significant opportunities available to Chubb in this exciting region.”
