Insurance Business Australia (IBW) continues celebrating Women's History Month by featuring award-winning insurance professional Lisa Carter, who has stood out over the years for her commitment to building a fair and sustainable future for the insurance industry.

Carter (pictured), the managing director of Clear Insurance, has more than 20 years of insurance experience. She established Clear Insurance in 2010 and has since led the Clear Insurance team, which specialises in bespoke commercial insurance and risk protection programmes, with a particular interest in the construction, hospitality, medical, and tech start-up industries.

Her skills and achievements were recognised by the insurance industry over the years. Carter has won or been a finalist of several IBW awards, including Hot List, Insurance Business Awards, Elite Brokers, and Elite Women.

In 2019, she was the first woman to be awarded the 2019 National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Broker of the Year and became a SheEO activator, enabling her to support female entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses and connect with “incredibly positive, passionate, and driven like-minded women.”

Carter said she understands that her success has positioned her as a role model for other women in the industry.

“I'm heartened to see the rise in young ladies joining the insurance industry ranks and aspiring to leadership positions,” she told Insurance Business.

Therefore, she urges women, in particular mothers, to work in the “exciting and rewarding [insurance] industry” because it offers many different roles and flexible work environments.
