Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has extended both its COVID-19 customer support measures and Help Programme to continue assisting customers hit by financial difficulties due to the coronavirus crisis.

Originally slated to end on September 30, the measures will now be in place until December 31. They are available to impacted NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO, SGIC, and WFI home, motor, and small business insurance customers.

Benefits include premium deferrals, access to premium reductions, the option to change annual payments to monthly instalments at no additional cost, reduced or waived excess amounts, and waived cancellation and administration fees.

“It has been an incredibly challenging year for all Australians, and we know that for many people the impacts of COVID-19 will last for some time to come,” stated IAG Australia chief executive Mark Milliner. “We don’t know when this pandemic will end, but we want to ensure we can continue to help our customers who are experiencing financial hardship for the foreseeable future.

“Our team can provide a number of solutions to our customers based on their circumstances and we encourage our customers to contact us or their broker if they need help to discuss the options that are available to them.”

Across all brands, IAG said it has so far made changes to more than 80,000 policies.
